Ο Δρ. Θεοχάρης Χατζηστάθης είναι πτυχιούχος του τμήματος Γεωπονίας του ΑΠΘ (βαθμός 7,51), κάτοχος μεταπτυχιακού διπλώματος του τμήματος Δασολογίας και Φυσικού Περιβάλλοντος του ΑΠΘ, και διδάκτορας του τμήματος Γεωπονίας (ειδικότητα: Θρέψη Φυτών και Φυλλοδιαγνωστική) του ΑΠΘ, με βαθμό ‘Άριστα’. Υπηρετεί ως Εντεταλμένος Ερευνητής στον ΕΛΓΟ ‘ΔΗΜΗΤΡΑ’, στο Ινστιτούτο Εδαφοϋδατικών Πόρων, στη Θέρμη Θεσσαλονίκης. Τα ερευνητικά του ενδιαφέροντα εστιάζονται κυρίως στη θρέψη/ λίπανση και φυλλοδιαγνωστική: i) της ελιάς και άλλων πολυετών-δενδροκομικών και δασοκομικών ειδών, ii) της αμπέλου, iii) των λαχανοκομικών κ.α. οπωροκηπευτικών φυτικών ειδών, καθώς και: iv) στη γονιμότητα των εδαφών. Είναι (ή διετέλεσε) επιστημονικά υπεύθυνος σε 9 ερευνητικά έργα, συμμετείχε σε άλλα 8, ενώ δραστηριοποιείται στην κατάθεση πολλών ερευνητικών προτάσεων, σε συνεργασία και με άλλους ερευνητικούς φορείς. Έχει δημοσιεύσει 48 εργασίες σε περιοδικά με υψηλό δείκτη απήχησης, 1 βιβλίο σε διεθνή εκδοτικό οίκο (Micronutrient deficiency in soils and plants, Bentham Science Publishers), 9 κεφάλαια σε διεθνείς συλλογικούς τόμους, περισσότερες από 30 εργασίες σε πρακτικά παγκόσμιων και εθνικών συνεδρίων και 6 σε εκλαϊκευμένα έντυπα. Μιλάει άριστα Αγγλικά και Γαλλικά και καλά την ιταλική και ισπανική γλώσσα (είναι συνολικά κάτοχος 8 επίσημα αναγνωρισμένων πιστοποιητικών γλωσσομάθειας στις 4 αυτές γλώσσες). Έχει διδάξει από το 2010 έως το 2022 αυτοδύναμα, ή σε συνεργασία με άλλους καθηγητές, στο ΔΙΠΑΕ, στο ΑΠΘ, στο Τ.Ε.Ι. Δυτικής Μακεδονίας και στην Αμερικανική Γεωργική Σχολή τα εξής μαθήματα: Ελαιοκομία (Θεωρία και Εργαστήριο), Προχωρημένη Φυσιολογία Φυτών, Εδαφολογία (Θεωρία και Εργαστήριο), Εργαστήριο Γενικής και Ειδικής Δενδροκομίας, και διαχείριση εδαφών. Είναι μέλος τριμελούς συμβουλευτικής επιτροπής σε 3 εν εξελίξει διδακτορικές διατριβές (ΑΠΘ και ΔΙΠΑΕ) και σε 4 μεταπτυχιακές (ΓΠΑ), ενώ διετέλεσε μέλος 3μελών συμβουλευτικών επιτροπών και σε άλλες δύο μεταπτυχιακές διατριβές (ΔΙΠΑΕ), κατά τα τελευταία 4 έτη.
