Ο Δρ. Βίκτωρ Καββαδίας είναι Δασολόγος, απόφοιτος του Τμήματος Δασολογίας και Φυσικού Περιβάλλοντος του Αριστοτελείου Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλονίκης, και κάτοχος διδακτορικού διπλώματος από το Forest Department, University of Aberdeen (U.K.). Υπηρετεί ως Διευθυντής Ερευνών στον ΕΛΓΟ–ΔΗΜΗΤΡΑ, στο Τμήμα Εδαφολογίας Αθηνών του Ινστιτούτου Εδαφο-Υδατικών Πόρων. Έχει διατελέσει επιστημονικός συνεργάτης στο Τμήμα Δασολογίας και Φυσικού Περιβάλλοντος, καθώς και εργαστηριακός και επιστημονικός συνεργάτης στο Τμήμα Γεωπονίας του Πανεπιστημίου Πελοποννήσου. Το ερευνητικό του έργο επικεντρώνεται στην αειφορική διαχείριση και προστασία των εδαφικών πόρων, στη γονιμότητα, στη ρύπανση και αποκατάσταση εδαφών, στην ορθολογική λίπανση και αξιολόγηση της θρεπτικής κατάστασης των καλλιεργειών, στην αποδοτική χρήση ανόργανων και οργανικών λιπασμάτων και εδαφοβελτιωτικών παρασκευασμάτων, καθώς και στη διαχείριση γεωργικών υπολειμμάτων και αποβλήτων. Επιπλέον, ειδικεύεται στην ανάπτυξη και εφαρμογή καλλιεργητικών πρακτικών που στοχεύουν στη μετρίαση των επιπτώσεων της κλιματικής αλλαγής στο εδαφικό σύστημα και στη γεωργική παραγωγή. Έχει συμμετάσχει ή συντονίσει περισσότερα από 40 ερευνητικά έργα σε εθνικό και διεθνές επίπεδο και έχει δημοσιεύσει σημαντικό αριθμό εργασιών σε διεθνή επιστημονικά περιοδικά, σε πρακτικά συνεδρίων, καθώς και κεφάλαια και άρθρα σε εθνικούς και διεθνείς συλλογικούς τόμους. Παράλληλα, δρα ως guest editor σε επιστημονικά περιοδικά και ασκεί καθήκοντα κριτή σε πλήθος διεθνών επιστημονικών περιοδικών.
