Academic Profiles
Dr. Viktor Kavvadias, a forester, graduated from the Department of Forestry and Natural Environment at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and holds a PhD from the Forest Department, University of Aberdeen (U.K.). He is Research Director at ELGO–DIMITRA’s Soil Science Department in Athens. Previously, he worked as a scientific associate at the Department of Forestry and Natural Environment and as a laboratory and scientific associate at the Department of Agriculture, University of Peloponnese.
His research focuses on sustainable management and conservation of soil resources, soil fertility, pollution and remediation, nutrient management of crops, and agricultural residue and waste management. He also specializes in developing and implementing cultivation practices that mitigate climate change impacts on soil systems and agricultural production. He has participated in or coordinated over 40 national and international research projects and published extensively in scientific journals, conference proceedings, and collective volumes. He also serves as a guest editor and reviewer for numerous international peer-reviewed journals.
