Dr. Theocharis CHATZISTATHIS has BSc from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Auth) on Horticulture (degree 7.51/10), MSc (from Auth) on Soil Science (with special emphasis on Soil Fertility) and a PhD degree (from Auth) on Plant Nutrition (with Excellent). He has been working from October 2017 as researcher of the ELGO-DIMITRA (Institute of Soil and Water Resources, Thermi-Thessaloniki), while from February 2024 he has been working as Principal Researcher (grade B). His research interests are mainly focused on Plant Nutrition, Fertilization and Foliar nutrient analysis in perennial and annual horticultural crops (especially in Olea europaea L., Vitis vinifera L., vegetable crops e.t.c.), as well as on Soil Fertility. He has worked for more than 10 years as permanent scientific staff of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. During his research career at the ELGO-DIMITRA he has been working, either as coordinator, or as scientifically responsible and research team member, in many national and EU research projects. With regard to his published work, he has published: a) 68 research and review articles in Citation Index Journals (total Impact Factor>260 and H index: 20), b) one monograph, with topic: Micronutrient Deficiency in Soils and Plants, published by Bentham Science Publishers, c) 9 book chapters in international volumes, d) more than 30 conference papers, and e) 7 articles in popular scientific journals. He is Associate Editor for the journal Frontiers in Plant Science (I.F. 5.6) and Leading Guest Editor of 4 special issues, for the journals Sustainability (MDPI, I.F. 3.9), Agriculture (MDPI, I.F. 3.6) and Frontiers in Plant Science. He has been awarded the ‘Certificate of Outstanding Reviewer’ and the ‘Certificate of Recognized Reviewer’ from the journal Scientia Horticulturae (I.F. 4.342). He has teached different subjects at the International Hellenic University, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Perrotis College of the American Farm School (Thessaloniki). Finally, he is one of the 3 advisory team members for 4 PhD dissertations (in cooperation with the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, International Hellenic University and Ionian University) and 10 MSc degrees (in cooperation with the Agricultural University of Athens, International Hellenic University and Democritus University of Thrace).
