The Laboratory of Physiology and Nutrition of Horticultural Crops conducts both applied and fundamental research on horticultural physiology, nutrition, and fruit quality, with direct benefits for individual growers and producer groups. The laboratory aims to develop innovative fertilization practices and nutritional diagnostic tools, investigate physiological disorders and specific nutrient-related problems in fruits, and evaluate cultivars and biostimulants for mitigating abiotic stresses. It further seeks to enhance crop productivity, fruit quality, and storability through new nutritional and cultivation treatments, while supporting agricultural production through targeted research projects.

  • Analysis of inorganic nutrient content in horticultural plant tissues.
  • Fertilization consulting services.
  • Diagnostic investigation of fruit physiological disorders.
  • Identification of specific fruit nutrient deficiencies (e.g., calcium, boron) and assessment of the link between mineral nutrition, fruit quality, and nutritional value.
  • Study and application of biostimulants to improve stress tolerance and fruit quality.
  • Evaluation of horticultural plant cultivars.
  • Application and assessment of products that enhance productivity and quality.
  • Evaluation of new nutritional and cultivation practices that influence fruit maintenance and quality.
  • Implementation of research projects on: (a) growth, production, and abiotic stress responses in horticultural crops; (b) fruit biology and crop physiology–nutrition; (c) practices improving crop productivity, fruit quality, and storability; and (d) nutritional diagnostics of crops and fruits.
