Research Unit: Thermi, Thessaloniki (Headquarters)
Dr. Theocharis CHATZISTATHIS is agriculturist (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki-Auth), he has an MSc in Soil Science (Auth) and a PhD Degree in Plant Nutrition (Auth). He is researcher of the ELGO 'DIMITRA' (Institute of Soil and Water Resources, Thermi, Thessaloniki). His research interests are mainly focused on the nutrition and foliar nutrient analysis in perennial (Olea europaea L., tree crops, Vitis vinifera L., some forest species) and annual crops (vegetable and other horticultural crops), as well as in soil fertility. He is coordinator (or he has participated) totally in 17 research projects, while he is also active in submitting research programs with other national and international partners. He has published 48 articles in SCI journals with high I.F., 1 international book (Micronutrient deficiency in soils and plants, Bentham Science Publishers), 9 book chapters in international volumes and more than 30 articles in the proceedings of international and national conferences. He speaks fluently English and French and Italian and Spanish at a good level. He has teached in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, International University of Greece, Technological Institute of Western Macedonia and American Farm School (Perrotis College) the following subjects: Olive growing, Advanced Plant Physiology, Soil Science, Pomology and Soil Management. He is one of the 3 members of the advisory board for 3 PhD theses (Auth and International University of Greece) and 4 MSc theses (Agricultural University of Greece).
