Dr. Dimitris Triantakonstantis is an Associate Researcher at the Soil Science Department of Athens (Institute of Soil and Water Resources) of ELGO – DIMITRA. He is an agronomist-soil scientist and Geographical Information Systems/Remote Sensing (GIS/RS) expert. He has completed postgraduate studies in Environmental Management (Agricultural University of Athens) and GIS with Remote Sensing (University of Greenwich, UK). In 2006 he was awarded a PhD in the field of Geographic Information Systems, Spatial Statistics, and land use change modelling from Agricultural University of Athens. He has also completed postdoctoral research at Newcastle University (UK), ESF - State University of New York (USA), the Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas, the University of Thessaly (Greece) and the National Hellenic Research Foundation (Greece). He is an author of many scientific articles in International Journals and Conferences. His research interests lie on GIS and RS in Agriculture and Soil Science. He explores the impact of agriculture in climate change mitigation and adaptation by facilitating soil health and food security.
