Dr. Gerassimos Peteinatos is working into the research, development and implementation of sensors, sensor systems and actuators in Precision Agriculture. In his first Diploma, he has finished the Agricultural University of Athens (undergraduate and MSc) working mainly on agricultural entomology. He has taken a second undergraduate course in computer sciences at the National Technical University of Athens. He has finished his diploma thesis at the Computing Systems Lab. His pursue to combine agriculture with modern technologies and computer science continued with the PhD titled “Sensor based identification of stress in crops and weeds and utilization of sensors for precision pest management”, which was a cumulative thesis leading to 5 peer-reviewed publications. It was performed at the University of Hohenheim, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, and specifically in the Herbology group of the Department of Phytomedicine, under the supervision of Prof. Roland Gerhards. He has continued his career as a post Doc at the research group of Weed Science at the University of Hohenheim. In 2021 he worked as a post-Doc resercher at the Center of Automation and Robotics of the Spanish National Research Council under a Juan de la Cierva stipendium. In 2022 he started in his current position working for ELGO in the topic of precision farming and its implementations on agricultural machinery. He has participated in various European research projects as a researcher, principal investigation, and coordinator / activity leader. He has been invited as a chairman, and as invited speaker / keynote speaker in various conferences. He was an associate editor of the Spanish Journal of Agricultural Research and a guest editor at special issues of various journals. He has received various prices during his degree and research career.
